“They are pretty much going to remodel the whole inside. Mayor Pesnell said the state planner said he directed the representative from Harbor Freight to the building inspector who said they were ready to go to work in there. “I can tell you that I’ve been contacted by our state planner and he said Harbor Freight had been in touch with him and asked what needed to be done,” Mayor Pesnell said. Mayor Rex Pesnell was asked about the progress of Harbor Freight Tools efforts to open a store in the Kimball Plaza. Alderman Teresa Lofty seconded the motion and the Board approved unanimously. “I think it is very good for the Town of Kimball to do that to protect our employees and I make a motion that Resolution 2021-01 be adopted,” Alderman John Matthews said. “We hope to return to in-person meetings open to the public as soon as possible.”Īdditionally, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted in favor of a new resolution drawn up by Attorney Gouger adopting a temporary leave policy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Meeting electronically and limiting public access to the meeting is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare in light of COVID-19,” Attorney Billy Gouger said. The first Town of Kimball meeting of the year, held on January 7, was closed to the public and broadcast online, due to Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order 71 put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19 while giving the public access to watch the meeting.
